Job Title: Campaign Internship
Location: Cook County
Reports To: Campaign Manager
Pay: $15 an hour
Type: Part-Time, Temporary (10-15 hours per week, for 3 months or through November 18, 2025)
About the Campaign
Friends for Fritz is a people-powered campaign fighting for bold, progressive leadership. A lifelong Democrat, Fritz Kaegi came into the Assessor’s Office following his 2018 election, determined to bring change to a broken property tax system that was stacked against middle-class residents. During his time has expanded protections for seniors, veterans, and disabled residents and stopped a twenty-year trend of rising tax bills for residential properties in middle-class and struggling neighborhoods.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Petitioning: Assist the field team in collecting signatures for ballot access. This includes helping to manage materials, track progress, and ensure quality control
- Events: Help with the planning and execution of campaign events, including community meetings, fundraisers, and voter outreach events
- Fundraising: Support fundraising efforts by assisting with donor research, data entry, and event support
- Research: Conduct research on various topics to support campaign strategy and communications
- Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the campaign team as needed
Qualifications
- A strong interest in progressive politics and community organizing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Access to a working mobile phone, laptop, and reliable transportation is preferred
- A commitment to equity, inclusion, and ethical campaign practices
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, as required by Illinois election law for petition circulators
Work Environment
This position typically operates in various settings where the climate may vary and noise can be moderate to heavy. Position requires routine use of standard office equipment such as phones, computers, printers, scanners and photocopiers.

While performing the required duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, use hands to type; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position is subject to lifting objects over 50 pounds frequently.
