Shift Team Leader

The Shift Team Leader in Pittsfield, MA, is responsible for supervising manufacturing and converting operations.  This position will play a key role in operations leadership by engaging with manufacturing employees, providing visible support, fostering open communication, coaching, and development in a safety-conscious environment, resulting in a benchmark operations culture.

Schedule:  The schedule rotates every month: 1st shift 6 – 2 pm, 2nd shift 2 -10 pm, and 3rd shift 10 pm – 6 am.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Provide leadership to manufacturing employees by being visible, clear in communicating relevant information, and coaching to drive employee performance.
  • Accountable for maintaining a safe working environment and adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Supervise all aspects of manufacturing, including, but not limited to, driving Safety, Quality, and efficiencies in the manufacturing processes.
  • Train and assist in the development/onboarding plans of new hires
  • Develop and implement cross–training plans and create work schedules for the operating floor.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of our continuous improvement programs (OpEx).
  • Analyze opportunities to improve productivity by engaging employees through continuous improvement activities
  • Create and maintain the proper culture of respect, professionalism, and cooperation among the hourly staff.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the cost savings program.

Education & Experience

  • Paper Sciences degree
  • 2 – 3+ years of leadership experience in a paper manufacturing environment preferred, preferably in the papermaking or nonwovens industry
  • Minimum of five years working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the papermaking or nonwovens industry
