One of our key businesses is seeking a talented Outdoor Product Manager to join our team in the Northeast, preferably New York area.
Position Overview:
The Outdoor Product Manager will be the expert and strategic leader for the outdoor living product line. You will manage product lifecycles, vendor relationships, market analysis, and sales enablement activities to drive growth and profitability in the category. This role requires a blend of product knowledge, marketing insight, and sales support, with a focus on innovation and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Lifecyle Management
- Own the outdoor product category: fire pit burners, outdoor fireplaces, grills, outdoor kitchens, outdoor heating, etc. and related accessories
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with sales and company goals
- Analyze product performance and market trends to optimize inventory and pricing
Vendor & Partner Relations
- Manage relationships with current vendors and evaluate new brand opportunities
- Negotiate pricing, terms, programs, and promotional support with suppliers
- Collaborate on co-branded or exclusive product offerings
Sales & Marketing Support
- Serve as the go-to product expert for the sales team and dealer network
- Develop training materials, product guides, and sales tools
- Collaborate with marketing to execute promotions, trade shows, and seasonal campaigns, product and price catalogs
Cross-functional Leadership
- Work closely with purchasing, logistics, and customer service to ensure smooth product flow
- Support e-commerce and digital marketing efforts with accurate product content and insights
- Provide regular reporting on product and category performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in product management or closely related roles
- Background in outdoor living, building materials, appliances, or consumer durable goods preferred
- Proven track record of driving product growth and managing vendor relationships
- Proven ability to differentiate and deliver on commercial vs. residential product standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Highly organized with excellent project management capabilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP/CRM systems
- Passion for outdoor living and home improvement industries
- Ability to travel with sales team and attend dealer, industry and manufacturing events.
