Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Data Science Intern to join our technology team in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This paid internship offers hands-on experience working with real-world financial data and contributing to our proprietary technology platforms. The ideal candidate will help us enhance our data infrastructure, build predictive models, and create meaningful visualizations that drive business decisions.

Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement data pipelines to collect, clean, and pre-process data for modeling.
- Develop and implement predictive models to solve classification problems, with a focus on techniques like Logistic Regression.
- Evaluate and validate model performance using appropriate statistical methods and metrics (e.g., confusion matrices, AUC-ROC curves).
- Interpret model outputs to provide actionable insights and explain factor significance to stakeholders.
- Integrate and maintain connections with external APIs to enrich our existing datasets.
- Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate model results and insights effectively.
- Collaborate with our technology team to improve data quality, feature engineering, and accessibility.
- Document data processes, modeling steps, and maintain data dictionaries.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python and its data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy).
- Fundamental understanding of statistical concepts and machine learning principles.
- Experience working with REST APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Data visualization skills (e.g., Matplotlib, Plotly, or similar libraries).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building and evaluating classification models, specifically Logistic Regression.
- Knowledge of model validation techniques and classification metrics (e.g., precision, recall, F1-score, AUC).
- Experience with other machine learning and statistical analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of time series analysis.
- Understanding of financial markets or the real estate industry.
- Experience with business intelligence tools.
