Position Title: Marketing Intern

 Location: Iowa City, Iowa

 Hourly Wage: $15 per hour

 Reports To: Communications & Marketing Director

Job Summary
The Marketing Intern will work closely with the Communications & Marketing Director to support key marketing and communications initiatives. This role focuses on content creation and management across newsletters, social media, blogs, and website updates, along with photography and support for social media video production. Additional responsibilities include basic graphic design tasks using Canva, helping manage campaign execution, and providing general support on marketing projects.
 

Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Communications & Marketing Director in managing marketing and communications campaigns, including brainstorming, planning, and execution.
• Create and update content for newsletters, social media, blogs, and the website, ensuring relevance, accuracy, and consistent messaging.
• Capture high-quality photos and produce occasional short videos to highlight events, programs, and community activities, including editing for use in newsletters and social media.
• Develop engaging social media posts to promote events, programs, and community stories, while tracking performance to improve future campaigns.
• Use Canva to design graphics and visual assets for newsletters, social media posts, and other promotional materials.
• Support general marketing and communications tasks, including campaign management and content organization.
• Assist with event coverage by providing photography, video, or promotional support to enhance visibility and engagement.
 

Desired Qualifications
• Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Experience with social media platforms and tools (e.g., Canva, Hootsuite, or Buffer).
• Familiarity with photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or CapCut).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative thinker with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
 

Additional Information
• This is a ‘bring-your-own-device’ internship – intern will use their own laptop and other devices as directed by Marketing & Communications Director, as well as Microsoft Office application. A Greater Iowa City email address will be provided. Interns are expected to check this email on a regular basis. Network access for needed files will be provided.
• Internships are not eligible for benefits.
• Hours will be tracked on an xls spreadsheet and submitted to VP of Operations for approval one week prior to pay dates.
 

Schedule & Commitment
Flexible schedule with 10–15 hours per week during the semester, with potential for additional hours during breaks or special events.
