Assistant Athletic Director

ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR - BROWN COUNTY SCHOOLS 

Position Overview: Brown County Schools is looking for an Assistant Athletic Director! This position will support the District Athletic Director in the leadership, strategic planning, and daily operations of the entire K-12 athletic program. This will be a full-time position. We are a 2A school conveniently located about 20 miles between Bloomington and Columbus in beautiful Nashville, IN.

Reports to: District Athletic Director 

Job Qualifications: 

● College degree. Teaching license/athletic administration experience is preferred. 

● Positive role model who is able to promote the mission and vision of the athletic dept. 

● Able to help lead a successful interscholastic athletic program. 

● Detail-oriented, energetic, and enthusiastic about promoting education-based athletics. ● Knowledge of interscholastic athletic department operations and/or NIAAA membership/certification is preferred. 

● Willing to collaborate with others and work as part of a team. 

● Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and school breaks. Job Description: 

● Ability to build personal and professional relationships with administration, teachers, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and community members. 

● Detail-oriented, energetic, and enthusiastic about promoting education-based athletics. ● Accept and implement the Brown County Schools athletic department mission and vision ● Follow and help enforce the rules and regulations of the school, the WIC conference, and the IHSAA. 

● Help with supervision of events throughout the school-year, including invitationals and postseason. 

● Help with reporting scores and disseminating information for publicity, via social media and websites. 

● Participate in pre and post season meetings with the Athletic Director. 

● Assist in confict resolution within the athletic department. 

● Assist with the management of athletic facilities and event set-up/tear-down 

● Help represent the district and department at pertinent meetings, including conference and state. 

● Assist with department budget preparation and financial management. 

● Assist with the management and operations of concession stands. 

● Assist with scheduling of events, officials, and transportation. 

● Assist in the interview and selection process of new coaches. 

● Assist with the evaluation process of all coaches. 

● Assist with the management and operation of SALT and Athletic Ambassador programs. ● Make recommendations for improvement of athletic programs and facilities to the Athletic Director. 

● Work alongside the Athletic Secretary and support staff to ensure efficient department operations. 

● Assist in ways to help support and enhance the athletic department, including soliciting sponsorships. 

● Assist with athletic awards programs, coaches meetings, and parents meetings as needed. 

● Assist with determining athletic eligibility and issuing disciplinary action when necessary. ● Help evaluate the overall athletic program and look for ways to improve. 

● Assist in promoting good sportsmanship to our coaches, student-athletes, and fans. 

● Assist in supervising coaches, the Athletic Secretary, and the Athletic Trainer. 

● Understand the administrative chain of command and follow proper procedures. 

● Assure that the program at all times will reflect proper attitude and conduct. 

● Represent the school in a professional manner in demeanor, language, and conduct. 

● Communicate efectively with all necessary personnel and parties. 

● Work to stay abreast to new innovations in athletic administration and ways to improve professionally. 

● Perform all other duties as assigned by the District Athletic Director.
