
Program Support Specialist (Cleveland)
Who We Are:
Yachad, a program of the Orthodox Union, is dedicated to enriching the lives of Jewish individuals with disabilities and their families, by enhancing their communal participation and their connection to Judaism through social and educational programs and support services.
The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.
Position Summary:
This position involves supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities during various programs. Responsibilities include engaging participants in group activities, supervising transportation, ensuring safety, and encouraging independence. The role also requires communication with supervisors, parents, and community members to foster positive relationships.
Responsibilities:
• Working with individuals to facilitate engagement during programs
• Implementing group activities
• Supervise the program transportation of individuals to/from the program in the morning and afternoon
• Communicate with supervisor as well as parents & community liaison
• Foster positive relationships between individuals served and the community
• Ensures the safety of participants during programs
• Encourages independence
Job Requirements:
• A desire to work with adults with disabilities
• Ability to provide positive motivation to others
• Must be caring, dedicated, responsible, and patient
• Willingness to take public transportation
• Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including walking for periods
• HS diploma, GED, or equivalent
Salary:
This role is part-time and $35 an hour
