Principal of Special Education

Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Principal of Special Education to join our leadership team. Qualifications:

  • NYS certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS)
  • Strong professional background in Special Education
  • Knowledge of NYS Part 200 Regulations and IEP development
  • Familiarity with positive behavior supports (e.g., TCIS) preferred
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

     

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise special education programs, staff, and students across assigned sites
  • Ensure compliance with IEP processes and state/federal regulations (Part 200)
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and equitable school culture for all learners
  • Collaborate with component district administrators to support student placement and progress
  • Guide instructional practices that meet diverse student needs
  • Recruit, support, and evaluate staff using effective feedback and supervision practices
  • Foster meaningful engagement with families, districts, and community partners
  • Promote professional learning and staff development aligned with best practices
  • Oversee daily operations, scheduling, and data-driven decision-making
  • Lead school improvement initiatives with a focus on continuous growth and student success

     

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel between school sites may be required
