$18 Per Hour (Part-Time)

About the Position:
The Grand Junction Police Department is seeking 2 Police Interns wanting to gain experience in the law enforcement profession. The Intern will assist with various units within the agency including but not limited to; investigations, lab/property, professional standards, community resource unit, records, traffic unit, community outreach (La Plaza), and patrol. Duties will vary based on the department's needs.
This paid opportunity may be completed for an academic credit internship if approved by your institution or may be worked as a part-time job if you choose.

What You'll Do:
- Assist Detectives and Investigation personnel with various aspects of criminal investigations.
- Document and record training records for the department.
- Assist laboratory personnel with booking, handling, and processing evidence.
- Work with record technicians to enter data, route phone calls, conduct database research and assist with customer service.
- Assist Dispatch in fulfilling requests for 911 phone call recordings.
- Ride with and assist patrol officers.

- Someone who has a high level of integrity, and can be trusted with confidential information.
- Someone who is committed to the success of this program and the department.
- An individual who can work in a variety of environments and all hours of the day.
- Someone who has a valid Driver’s License.
- Someone who is bilingual -able to speak, read, and write in Spanish and English. *Preferred, not required.
Degree Requirement:
Must be a college student currently enrolled in Bachelor or Associate program.

- Perjury conviction
- Any theft conviction regardless of value of item
- Theft from current employer or a previous employer
- Drug use (including marijuana) and/or current alcohol abuse
- An alcohol or drug conviction including but not limited to DUI/DWAI, depending on recency
- Hit and run accident conviction
- Being under or having been under driving restraint, cancelation, suspension or revocation of driving privileges in Colorado or any other state

Part-Time Position:
Up to 20 hours per week; beginning Summer of 2025 through Spring 2026.
Testing Process May Include:
- Oral Board Interview
- Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA)
- Finger Prints/Background Investigation
- Commander Review
- Pre-employment drug screening and, medical evaluation
