Operations Manager - GREAT STARTER JOB - Must be local to Long Island

HCI is hiring one Operations Manager to assist the owner in managing order fulfillment and inventory operations.  The candidates will work 45 hours per week.

We are reseller of wireless communications equipment to the government. We are seeking a high-performing candidate with a strong record of academic success. The candidates MUST also have previous work experience (the experience can be any paid experience and not related to the role).

We are currently walking distance to campus but will soon be moving to St. James. You are responsible for your own transportation.

This candidate will perform the following job tasks:

  1. Overseeing a staff of 3 to 4 operations assistants (all SBU undergrads) in order fulfillment, electronics product testing, and inventory management functions.
  2. As necessary, perform the same functions as the operations assistants to ensure continuity in the business.
  3. Relieve the owner of responsibilities related to overseeing certain aspects of operations.

Skills needed:

  1. Be able to multi task - You will be handling multiple functions at once.
  2. Be able to understand instructions on the fly - It’s important you have strong listening skills. Once you are told instructions, or receive feedback, you must commit be able to act without error.
  3. Collaboration - You must be a team player who can get along with your employees, you co-manager, and the owner.
  4. Physically demanding - You won’t be sitting at a desk! This is a hands-on role with testing and cleaning items, packing items, and updating equipment via laptops. Every day, you will be lifting heavy bins and boxes, at times exceeding 65lbs each!

·     Wednesday: 8:00  AM to 6 PM

·     Thursday: 8:00 AM to 6 PM

·     Friday: 8:00  AM to 6 PM

Important Note

This can be a “dirty” job - and it's definitely hands-on! You will be handling used electronics, boxes, and cleaning products (all natural cleaning products only). You will need appropriate clothing. Gloves, safety glasses, and masks will be provided.

Job Experience Required

Requirements

o  Over 18 years of age

o  4-year bachelors required! You must completed undergrad with a STEM-related major

o  Be able to lift a 65lb box and place on a 36" high table

o  Be able to walk up and down a 7 foot stepping ladder with a 65 lb box

o  Pass drug test and background check

o  Be familiar with consumer electronics

o  Have experience using a power screwdriver and understanding of basic tools (e.g., allen key, phillips, flathead, etc.)

o  3.0 GPA

o  Previous work experience at a paid job
