Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant with a bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of professional accounting experience to work remotely with our dynamic team. Goodboro, Utah’s traditional homebuilder, is an early-stage development group that is dedicated to building beautiful, timeless homes in traditional communities at multiple price points in the Utah market. We are currently developing and building in four active communities with over 800 lots.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in accounting principles and practices, with a preference, but not a requirement, for those who have experience in real estate / construction / development and partnership accounting. Key Responsibilities
- General Accounting: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for seven (currently) different entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Accounts Payable: Process and manage all vendor invoices and payments. Reconcile accounts payable to ensure records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Bank Reconciliation: Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations for all group accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Intercompany and Group Allocations: Reconcile intercompany accounts and prepare and record shared cost allocations monthly.
- Sales: Prepare and record sales and cost of sales entries for home sales, accurately capturing both direct and indirect / allocated costs.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial statements in compliance with applicable regulations and company policy. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management and project stakeholders.
- Project Accounting: Track and report costs associated with each of the four active development projects and homes under construction, allocating expenses appropriately. Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and provide regular updates to project managers.
- Bank Financing: Prepare and record bank loans and draws and prepare and submit related draw request packages.
- Partnership Accounting: Support the management of partnership accounts, including capital calls and distributions. Collaborate with legal and investment partners as necessary.
- Compliance and Audit: Assist with the preparation and coordination of materials for annual insurance audits and tax return preparation and ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. Maintain organized records and support documentation.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and procedures for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with development, construction, and sales teams to ensure the integrity of financial data across all departments.
Qualifications
- Ethics & Integrity: High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience. Real estate and partnership accounting experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets, and QuickBooks Online.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Familiarity with real estate development and construction accounting is a significant plus.
- Analytical Ability: Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and develop solutions.
- Organization: Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Collaborative spirit and willingness to assist colleagues as needed to achieve common goals.
