Green Lake Conference Center – Summer 2026
Overview:
Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) is offering a paid summer internship for college students pursuing degrees in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Dietary Management, Food Production, or related fields. This immersive opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience in a high-volume kitchen environment while contributing to the mission and hospitality of GLCC.
Interns will work alongside professional food service leaders in meal preparation, kitchen operations, food safety, and team supervision. They will gain experience in both day-to-day kitchen tasks and leadership development, including scheduling, menu planning, inventory, and service coordination.
This internship can be structured to meet college credit requirements, with faculty approval and documented learning outcomes.
Internship Highlights
- Paid Position: $15/hour
- On-site housing available at Green Lake Conference Center (shared housing, walking distance to Dining Services)
- Meals provided during shifts
- Duration: May–September 2026 (flexible start/end based on academic calendar)
- Hours: 40 hours per week, with weekend and holiday availability required
- Shifts: Breakfast and Lunch, or Lunch and Dinner, rotating as needed, operating Sunday-Saturday
- Supervision: Interns will report to the Director and Assistant Director(s) of Dining Services
- Eligible for College Credit (student responsibility to coordinate with academic advisor and secure approval)
- Timeframe: May-September (flexible with college calendar)
Learning Objectives & Experience Gained
By the end of the internship, students will:
- Gain hands-on experience in high-volume food production, line service, and banquet-style meal execution
- Understand kitchen safety, sanitation procedures, and ServSafe principles
- Assist with menu execution for guest groups ranging from 20 to 800+
- Rotate through stations including prep, hot line, salad/dessert, dish, and others as needed
- Learn inventory, ordering, and basic cost control practices
- Participate in scheduling and task delegation
- Develop soft skills such as teamwork, leadership, guest service, and conflict resolution
- Explore the intersection of hospitality and ministry through faith-based service and guest engagement
Ideal Candidates
- Currently enrolled in a college or university hospitality, culinary, dietary management, or related program
- Seeking internship or practicum hours for credit (GLCC will assist with documentation as needed)
- Servant-hearted and team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow
- Flexible, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Must be at least 18 years of age by internship start date
