Position Overview

DCA–ORA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Planning Intern to support a range of community partnership and engagement initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a current student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in program development, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications within a collaborative and mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about community impact, eager to learn, and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented setting. This is a Paid Internship working Onsite in Durham NC.

Temporary / Part-time (up to 40 hours/week; flexible scheduling available to accommodate academic commitments) Ideal for recent graduates willing to work On-Site in Durham NC.      

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community-based programs and events
  • Conduct research and synthesize findings to inform program design and evaluation
  • Draft and edit outreach materials, including flyers, newsletters, reports, and presentations
  • Attend and document internal and external meetings with stakeholders and partners
  • Support digital outreach efforts, including social media and website content
  • Track and analyze program metrics, feedback, and participation data
  • Provide general administrative and project support to the team

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate in public administration, nonprofit management, communications, social sciences, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in community partnerships, social impact, or public service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, Canva, or similar platforms
