Section Leader

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Section Leader will ensure that a business unit - a particular production segment of the company - is meeting goals that contribute to the overall success of the company.  This position will lead cross-functional business unit teams to include activities such as; scheduling workload, labor planning, managing parts outages and working with quality personnel to insure product quality.  This position will report to the Plant Manager. 

 

We have two shifts: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 6a-2:30p and 2nd Shift Monday-Friday 3:45p-12:15a

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the manufacturing operation for the self-contained business.
  • Prepare/Track performance to the production schedule, and drive accountability within the business unit.
  • Identify new opportunities/ideas for growth while cultivating relationships within the facility.
  • Planning, implementation and maintenance of the manufacturing activities of a specific area.
  • Ensure the effective use of materials, equipment and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs.
  • Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources.
  • Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the Section Leader’s ability to influence and negotiate with internal or external partners where formal authority is not held.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to strengthen the culture/skills of the team.
  • Build and lead a dynamic organization, set the pace and example as the leader of the business unit.
  • Follow established procedures and drive continuous improvement in the plant's manufacturing processes, including fabrication, welding, paint and/or assembly.
  • You will plan major projects including Product Delivery Process (PDP) launches and manufacturing strategies.
  • Resolves issues related to the organization's production, machinery, processing and/or packaging operations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum seven-year’s management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership experience (required)

 

EXPERTISE:

  • Proven ability to motivate teams to achieve high standards and accomplish set outcomes.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understand and support company policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in the use of Google software application along with the Microsoft suite software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented with good problem solving skills.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Engineering or Manufacturing/Operation Mgmt

 

 

SALARY RANGE:

  • Base Salary Range between $100,000 - $115,000 per year, plus a potential annual bonus based on performance metrics

                      *Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location

 

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located in Yankton, SD
  • Travel up to 5%
