Public Relations & Brand Communications Intern
We are a small, upscale home goods boutique located in the heart of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. We are known for our thoughtful product curation and inviting atmosphere, our store blends timeless design with contemporary living. We are seeking a polished, articulate, and proactive intern to support our public relations and brand communications efforts.
This internship is ideal for a student passionate about storytelling, brand positioning, event promotion, and media engagement. You will support public-facing communication initiatives and work closely with the company Principal to help expand our brand presence and visibility in the community and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Draft press releases and media advisories for product launches, events, and brand news
- Build and maintain press/media contact lists
- Research relevant local, regional, and design industry publications and journalists
- Support influencer and media outreach efforts
- Assist in planning and promoting in-store events or collaborations
- Contribute content ideas for newsletters, blog posts, and press kits
- Develop and schedule engaging LinkedIn content that highlights brand milestones, partnerships, media mentions, and behind-the-scenes activity
- Help monitor press coverage and compile media mentions
- Ensure brand voice and messaging consistency across all channels
- Participate in weekly check-ins and strategy sessions with the marketing/PR team
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year college/university pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write clear, engaging press releases and promotional copy
- Organized and detail-oriented, with a professional demeanor
- Knowledge of social media platforms and their role in PR campaigns
- Understanding of how to tailor messaging for professional platforms like LinkedIn
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Canva a plus
- Familiarity with local media or lifestyle/design publications is a bonus
- Enthusiasm for home décor, design, and storytelling is highly encouraged
