GPI Laboratories is our specialized protective coatings testing division, serving critical infrastructure industries including bridge/highway, rail, nuclear, and chemical storage. We provide essential testing services to paint and coatings manufacturers as well as structure owners who depend on our expertise to protect vital infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Analytical chemistry testing (paint characterization, heavy metals analysis, VOC determinations) supporting critical infrastructure projects
- Operate advanced instrumentation including GC, ICP-OES, FTIR spectroscopy, microscopy, accelerated weathering equipment (salt spray, immersion, cyclic weathering, UV exposure), and titration
- Sample preparation including reagents and reference standards
- Data entry of analytical results using MS Excel and Word extensively
- Laboratory maintenance and cleaning
- Follow published test methods (ASTM/ISO/SSPC/NACE etc)
- Report writing and documentation for third-party testing clients
Qualifications:
- STEM background preferred (Chemistry, Engineering, or related science field) or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Ability to follow precise procedures and maintain accurate records
- Eagerness to learn and grow in laboratory sciences
- Reliable attendance and commitment to consistent schedule
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Experience:
- Entry-level candidates welcome - we provide comprehensive training and mentorship
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with weathering or paint testing
- Experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)
- Knowledge of protective coatings or corrosion testing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
