Job Description
Oversee, coordinate, and support Local Assistance programmatic functions. Supervise staff providing analysis and support for assigned program area by planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating complex projects and programs.
How you will contribute:
- Local Assistance Leadership: Assist in providing the Local Assistance Division with strategic leadership and direction for assigned Local Assistance programs. Provide advice and build partnerships with organizational leaders and critical stakeholders on a broad range of local assistance issues. Manage special projects as assigned.
- Local Assistance Oversight: Oversee other Local Assistance functional areas as assigned.
- Program Delivery: Coordinate delivery of the Division programs. Assess needs and determine most appropriate structure for program activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals at various organizational levels both inside and outside VDOT.
- Ability to gather, analyze data and prepare technical reports.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and staff in a large organizational setting.
- Ability to plan, organize and oversee implementation of complex programs.
- Ability to supervise staff, programs, and budgets.
- Knowledge of locally administered project statutes and policies.
- Knowledge of state and federal funding requirements.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and PC-based financial software, such as PeopleSoft products.
Additional Considerations:
- A combination of training, experience or education in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field desired.
- Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
- Experience ensuring compliance with state and federal policies and procedures. Experience interpreting laws and developing policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of VDOT standards, policies, procedures, and program priorities.
- Prior experience working with local governments and locally administered projects.
