Pay Range

Hiring Range: $56,846 - $68,203 Annually 

Pay Range: $56,846- $79,580 Annually

Pima County's Grants Management and Innovation (GMI) Monitoring, Analysis & Performance Division is currently seeking a Data Analyst I. If selected you will report to the Monitoring, Analysis, and Performance (MAP) Division Manager. In this role, you are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing grant data to support data-driven decision-making processes. In addition, this role ensures data accuracy and provides insights that inform policy and operational improvements.

 

This is an in-office position located in Tucson, AZ and cannot be remote.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts data analysis using established tools and techniques to extract insights from datasets;
  • Creates clear and effective data visualizations, such as charts and graphs, to communicate findings to stakeholders;
  • Ensures data accuracy and reliability by implementing basic quality assurance procedures;
  • Develops and produces routine reports and summaries based on data for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including professionals and data experts, to support department initiatives and projects;
  • Maintains documentation of data analysis processes, data sources, and methodologies used for future reference;
  • Adheres to data security protocols and assists in safeguarding sensitive data;
  • Stays informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to data analysis through continuous learning and training;
  • Provides support to more senior analysts on data analysis projects, including data collection, data cleaning, and basic project management tasks;
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Human Resources Department and Pima County.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one (1) year of business analysis or related technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):  

  • Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in data management. 
  • Experience synthesizing complex documents and ideas into consumable, actionable items.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience with prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. 
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Experience using a statistical package (e.g., R Studio). 

 

Selection Procedure

Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
