BACKGROUND
Founded in 1973 as Women In Film Los Angeles, WIF advocates for and advances the careers of women working in the screen industries—in front of and behind the camera, across all levels of experience—to achieve parity and transform culture. WIF creates meaningful change in the field through three programmatic priorities: Building the Pipeline: WIF expands access for women from underrepresented communities to enter the screen industries. Sustaining Careers: WIF invests in mid-career and established professionals’ industry sustainability, offering support for survivors of harm, career-building fellowships, and advocacy for individuals for hire. Advocating for Change: WIF builds industry and cultural awareness of gender inequity in Hollywood to create pathways to gender parity in hiring and safe work, and aims to grow decision makers’ investment in and policies for equitable pay, opportunity, representation, and safety.
