Job Description:

The position entails the following job functions and responsibilities:

Responsible for accurate and timely month-end closing; produces month-end financial reports and issues for appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

  • Analyses Income statement for the North America group entities and reconciles balance sheet accounts.
  • Reports, analyzes, and interprets financial and operating data for management.
  • Prepares, reviews, and interprets data for inclusion in financial reports, statements, and summaries.
  • Reviews financial data for accuracy; identifies problems and supports day-to-day operations.
  • Observes and reviews purchase orders and invoices created by related departments.
  • Assists in adopting new accounting standards including but not limited to researching standards, preparing a written accounting policy for the company, and preparing new disclosures.
  • Assists with company cash flow analysis including but not limited to tracking cash flow activity, preparing reports, and analyzing information for management.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting and analyses for the treasurer, controller, and others.
  • Supports policy development and offers advice regarding accounting and internal control issues, reporting needs, and policy review and changes.
  • Develops reporting and variance analysis regarding departmental operating budget versus actual expenses.
  • Analyzes and maintains all accounts receivable accounts, refund accounts, and deposit accounts.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Collaborating with group companies seeks an ideal/better way to improve cost accounting management by deeply investigating our ERP system.
  • Collaborates with tax accounting firms to prepare supporting documents and provide necessary information for tax return filings as needed.
  • Maintains close coordination with the Japanese parent company to carry out monthly management operations, submit reports, and handle other related tasks.
  • Leads the company’s budgeting process. Works closely with relevant departments to take primary responsibility for preparing the expense-side of the budget and ensures timely submission of the information to the Japan headquarters.
  • Assists with annual external audits.

 

We are seeking an Accounting Manager who is not only technically skilled and detail-oriented, but also excited to join a diverse and dynamic global team. This role is vital in supporting our financial infrastructure as we expand our operations and strengthen our international presence, North America. You will collaborate closely with both our U.S.-based and Japan-based teams, contributing to meaningful work that directly supports strategic decision-making at a global scale.

Bilingual in Japanese and English preferred

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license strongly preferred.
  • MBA (Master of Business Administration) is highly valued and preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP; also of Japanese GAAP is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite (Oracle) experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, etc.).
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration, including with international teams.
  • Bilingual in English and Japanese is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with Excel Macros and Power Query is considered a strong plus.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is highly advantageous.
  • Comfort and openness to utilizing AI tools to enhance work efficiency is strongly valued.
  • Experience working in a global or multinational corporate environment preferred.
