Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos)

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in New Hope, MN.  No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) and PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy) and all ancillary quality control procedures
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material 
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Requirements:
Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus 
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting 
0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis   
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance


Available Shift:
Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
