Motion Design Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

The Utah Jazz are looking for a Motion Design Intern with a passion for sports and all things motion to join their creative team for the 2025-26 season. As an intern for the Utah Jazz, you'll gain practical, hands-on experience creating animation and motion graphics across the brand, including in-arena game presentation, broadcast, social, and more, executed at a high level demanded by the NBA and its fans. You will be collaborating with other members of the creative team to conceptualize, design, and execute graphics for events and general use throughout the season and off-season. This is a full-time, on-site position in Sandy, UT.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop motion designs and animations based on provided designs, across a wide variety of screen sizes and purposes in 2D or 3D.
• Propose ideas, and iterate based on feedback.
• Observe and review the in-arena game experience and make note of needed changes/improvements.
• Maintain brand guidelines and consistency, but also recognize opportunities for creative exploration.
• Work independently on a wide variety of projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with other motion designers, graphic designers, editors, photographers, & creatives.
• Engage with the creative team to share and research new ideas.
• Identify gaps in current assets and opportunities for improvement.
• Keep up to date on current trends and relevant technology.

 

REQUIREMENTS:
• A body of work that showcases motion and design skills.
• Working knowledge of After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop (knowledge of 3D software a plus).
• Familiarity with expressions within After Effects is preferred.
• Detail-oriented and able to execute under tight deadlines.
• Interest in graphic design principles, typography, layout, etc.
• Knowledge of the NBA is preferred but not required.
• Embody the company values of Transparent, All In, Community Obsessed, One Team, and Scrappy.
• Student in motion graphics, design, animation, or related field is preferred.
• Availability to work nights and weekends (4 days per week normally, more sometimes required).
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
• This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
• This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
• This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
