Transportation Training and Development Specialist- Equipment - Upshur County

The Transportation Training and Development Specialist - Equipment Training Specialist, will be located at and report to the Equipment Division in Buckhannon, Upshur County. This position performs full-performance level work in developing and presenting training courses and programs at the Equipment Operator Training Academy, assigned districts, and/or a statewide basis. Work includes, but is not limited to, researching and developing training courses, curriculum, and participant manuals, reviewing source materials, conducting training, and evaluating training impact. Consults with management on training and employee development needs and develops curriculum to meet management goals. Researches and develops unique concepts and theories and applies to training courses. Responsible for procuring equipment and supplies as needed, creating and maintaining training pads within assigned areas in accordance with Employee Performance Appraisals (EPA) standards. 

May provide input in policies, procedures, and workflow processes to improve efficiency. Travel is required for this position; therefore a valid drivers license is required.  Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

• Substitution: Experience, as described below, may be substituted for the required training/education through an established formula.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Required experience is dependent upon the area of assignment:

Employee Development Training Specialist:

• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in a training and development field, such as adult leaning, education, instructional technology, communications, Human Resources development, or related field.

• Substitution: Graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university in education, instructional technology, communications, Human Resources development, industrial relations or related fields may substitute for the required experience through an established formula.

• Special Requirements: Valid drivers license.

 

Equipment Training Specialist:

• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in the operation of highway equipment.

• Special Requirements: A valid  class A or B Commercial Drivers License is required.

 

Mechanic Training Specialist: 

• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment as a mechanic or training mechanic.

• Substitution: Vocational training/education from an approved auto/diesel school or college may be substituted for the required experience through an established formula.
