Director of Data and Analytics (Hybrid)
The Washington State Tree Fruit Association (WSTFA) is looking for a Director of Data and Analytics capable of taking our data collection and reporting services to the next level. WSTFA is a nonprofit trade association representing the growers, packers, and marketers of world-class apples, pears, and cherries.
We’re looking for a professional who combines technical and data management acumen, industry analysis and thought leadership, and a commitment to meeting the needs of our members. WSTFA is currently investing in improvements to our data collection and reporting program, and you could help lead this transformation.
While we are seeking to hire at the Director level ($90,000 to $120,000), candidates with less experience may apply and be considered at the Senior Data Analyst level ($70,000-$90,000).

POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Director of Data and Analytics ($90,000 - $120,000)
LOCATION: Yakima, WA. Hybrid work schedules are available following an initial orientation period.
BASIC FUNCTION: Leads the Association’s programs for the collection and reporting of industry data to its grower, packer, and marketer members.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Planning: Responsible for developing and executing data and analytics strategy based on input from colleagues, members, and stakeholders.
- Member Engagement: Responds to information requests by Association members. Develops periodic custom reports, gathers feedback, and serves as a point-of-contact for members on data related matters.
- Thought Leadership: Develops and communicates data and trends of interest and benefit to the industry with members, external stakeholders, and the public. This will be in meetings, conferences, media, and social media.
- Data Acquisition: Develops automated processes where possible for data collection. Engages with outside data sources and vendors. Evaluates and incorporates industry data from warehouses, marketers, and government agencies. Creates and updates forms and formats for the collection and reporting of data. Develops and manages systems and procedures to identify and rectify errors.
- Quality Control & Technical Management: Verifies member reported data and makes corrections as needed. Serves as a resource and provides clarification or direction to data analyst(s) as needed.
- Data Reporting: Manages scripts to pull daily, weekly, and monthly reports from the database and formats these data sets for distribution to membership in standard reports using Power BI or similar tools.
- Decision & Presentation Support: Using available data and visualization methods, assists other Directors and Association President in development of promotional materials, presentations, training, lobbying efforts, and engagement with the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field and five years' experience working in data science, analytics, competitive intelligence, or related field. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Management and supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in programming and systems including SQL, Python, AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, Glue, Athena), and Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Strong verbal, written, and customer service skills. Demonstrated presentation, visualization, & public speaking skills preferred.
- Knowledge of Washington State's tree fruit industry, including packaging types, preferred.
