
Music Teacher with Art Reponsibilities
Position: Music Teacher (Grades K–12) plus some Art reponsibilties Location: Troy Campus + Burton Campus | Agape Christian Academy Status: Full-Time | 2025–2026 Academic Year
Objective
Agape Christian Academy is seeking a creative, mission-minded educator to serve as our Music & Arts Teacher. This full-time role is primarily focused on music education across all grade levels, with a limited responsibility for introductory visual art instruction in Grades 5–8 and an Art Appreciation course at the high school level. The ideal candidate will help build and strengthen a vibrant music culture that glorifies God and encourages creative expression rooted in biblical truth.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Teach general music, choir, and drama for Grades 5–12, aligned with Agape’s Christ-centered curriculum
- Provide weekly music instruction at the K–4 Burton Campus, introducing students to rhythm, melody, musical movement, and worship through song
- Lead a limited number of visual art sessions for Grades 5–8, focusing on introductory skills and creative exploration
- Teach an Art Appreciation elective for high school students, encouraging thoughtful engagement with artistic beauty from a Christian worldview
- Integrate worship and a biblical lens across all instruction
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of a broad age range of learners
- Plan long-term goals for student growth in musical skills and appreciation
Program Development & School Engagement
- Build and direct music ensembles such as chapel bands, choirs, and instrumental groups
- Organize and lead performances for both campuses (e.g., Christmas Program, Fine Arts Night, chapel worship)
- Support school-wide events such as Back-to-School Night, chapels, and community presentations
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary initiatives that include the arts
Classroom Culture & Discipleship
- Foster a joyful, Christ-centered environment where students reflect God’s beauty through music and creative expression
- Mentor students and encourage spiritual growth through intentional relationships and prayer
- Communicate with families about student progress and involvement in the music and arts program
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and membership in a Bible-believing local church
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field
- Experience leading music instruction across multiple age groups
- Ability to lead worship vocally and/or instrumentally
- Organizational strength and initiative to develop and sustain a school-wide music program
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Christian school or church-based music ministry
- Proficiency in multiple instruments or choral/drama direction
- Basic experience or openness to leading limited visual art instruction and facilitating art appreciation
- Understanding of how to integrate biblical truth into both music and the arts
