This job description is intended primarily as an illustration of the type of work to be performed by the Cluster Management Intern.  The Cluster Management Intern will work on the Partnership’s semiconductor team. Among the programs and priorities under the semiconductor team are the Partnership’s semiconductor cluster management organization (Cluster), NSF Florida Semiconductor Engine programs, and economic development activities related to the semiconductor industry. The intern is also expected to contribute to the overall performance of the organization by preparing the team through the completion of tasks and procedures aimed at creating efficiency.  The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if they are similar, related, or logical assignments in support of the mission.  

 

Interns may occasionally be called upon to provide their unique talents and abilities to solve specific problems or to address specific questions outside their job description. These may be related either to their team’s mission or in support of an organizational goal. As such, they may be asked to participate in a variety of ad-hoc assignments and are expected to be flexible in their work practices and supportive of other team members. 

 

SUMMARY 

 

Cluster Management Intern Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Policy and Strategic Initiatives, the Intern provides support to the Partnership’s semiconductor team. The Intern must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Intern will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. The Intern completes a broad variety of tasks including updating contact lists, supporting events, writing content for social media, and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential, arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, presentations, and agendas. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Cluster Management Organization (Cluster) 

Maintain Salesforce data related to the Partnership’s semiconductor Cluster. 

Set up for Cluster events and meetings both at the Partnership’s office and around the Orlando region. 

Conduct Cluster related research, as needed. 

Support Director with administrative duties required under the Partnership’s federal grants related to the semiconductor industry, including its EDA Build Back Better Regional Challenge and NSF Regional Innovation Engines awards. 

 

National Science Foundation (NSF) Florida Semiconductor Engine 

Support the Director with the development and implementation of activities under the region’s NSF Florida Semiconductor Engine program, including but not limited to grant administration, development and maintenance of Advisory Board materials, research for domestic and international economic development initiatives, and support of marketing projects. 
 

Programming and Events 

Assist in all aspects of preparation for events related to the Partnership’s semiconductor CMO and other semiconductor related projects and activities. 

 

Content Creation 

Work with the Senior Director and Director to develop and post social media content in a timely manner. 

Develop bios and background papers for meetings. 

Working with colleagues to obtain materials (agendas, speaking notes, outlines, etc.) 

Craft emails to external audiences on the Partnership’s public policy initiatives 
 

Salesforce/CRM Management 

Update Salesforce data as needed including updating contacts related to the Partnership’s CMO members and prospects. 

Create reports on Salesforce to assist the semiconductor team. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES: 

Undergraduate or graduate student studying public administration, public policy, political science, pre-law, economics, journalism, or related subject matter. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point), Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft TEAMs and Social Media web platforms 

Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail 

Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, external stakeholders, and investors  

Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
