Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (EHS) Manager

Job Summary:


The EHS Manager provides focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive environmental policy, vision and values that comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. This position will be required to train employees on safety policies and practices, conduct regular inspections, generate health and safety assessment reports, and ensure that all occupational guidelines and regulations are adhered to.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the management team to define EHS goals and objectives.
  • Train employees in health and safety policies and best practices.
  • Conduct inspections and identify hazards and EHS violations.
  • Provide solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
  • Implement new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits, Gemba walks, trending and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and safety manuals.
  • Report to management on relevant issues to closure.
  • Prepare and submit health and safety compliance documents to the relevant organizations.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor performance to ensure objectives & targets are met with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Conduct and update job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other risk assessments.
  • Coordinate safety committee guidelines and all safety incentive programs.
  • Partner with Human Resources to manage workers’ compensation claims.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
     

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
  • Strong leadership and training abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • External engagement of suppliers, contractors, and vendors
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage projects and work in a team project environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Workers' compensation experience a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar.
  • OSHA or similar EHS certification.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience as an EHS coordinator.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at times.
