Loan Officer Sales Assistant

Position Summary

The Loan Officer Sales assistant is responsible for assisting their assigned Mortgage Loan Officer/s with the loan origination administrative duties that are part of a Loan Officer's day to day responsibilities. The incumbent will be responsible for in putting loan applications, ensuring that goals are met, adhering to all applicable policies, procedures, and satisfying customer needs.

Essential Functions

  • Enter and or review new loan applications in EnCompass for completeness.
  • Pre Underwrite loan based on the initial asset and income provided.
  • Daily follow up with borrowers in regard to the collection of up front information/documentation to complete an application.
  • Order and import credit and Run DU/LP if required
  • Input loan data from EnCompass and borrower summary to the Credit Memo on Portfolio Loans prior to Underwriting.
  • Prepare the Loan Submission Form
  • Prepare the portfolio loan lock request
  • Submit the loan file to the Loan Opener
  • Assist mortgage operations in obtaining documentation for underwriting and closing of submitted applications.
  • Provide bank personnel and customers with information and or status of their loan application in process.

Additional Functions

  • Work towards meeting targets set by their assigned Loan Officer and management.
  • Maintain knowledge of current mortgage products, lending laws and guidelines.

Education and Experience

  • 6+ years Mortgage Banking preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • NMLS registration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage laws, federal and state, as well as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac & FHA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of loan origination systems.
  • Knowledge of investor loan registration/ lock systems and procedures.
  • Ability to ascertain customer needs and advise on appropriate products and services.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 75% of work hours.
  • Ability to talk, listen, read, write and see.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as a telephone, smart phone, computer keyboard, telephone, copier, fax machine, and calculator.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
  • Travel up to 10% of working hours.
