Inventory Specialist

Job Title: Inventory Specialist - Shipping and Receiving

Job Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for overseeing the ordering, storing, receiving, and distributing processes of our organization’s products and supplies. This role ensures that inventory levels are maintained, shipments are accurately processed, and records are meticulously kept.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain and update inventory records using inventory management software.
    • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and excesses.
    • Perform regular physical inventory audits and reconcile any discrepancies.
    • Identify and dispose of obsolete or damaged inventory in accordance with company policies.
    • Build and manage inventory forecast plan to ensure stock levels align with run rate to ensure stock does not deplete
  • Shipping and Receiving:
    • Handle all aspects of shipping and receiving, including inspecting incoming shipments and verifying the accuracy of received items.
    • Document daily deliveries and shipments to update inventory.
    • Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials.
    • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
    • Obtain shipping estimates and analyze shipping rates
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Coordinate with sales and production departments to forecast future inventory needs.
    • Work with the logistics team to manage shipping processes and schedules.
    • Address and resolve shipment and inventory issues promptly.
    • Work with operations to ensure any shipping carrier issues are promptly addressed. 
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.
    • Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation for management and sales teams.
