Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for helping the team conduct processes related to monthly accounting close, including the preparation of account reconciliations and monthly close journal entries, and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately across multiple software’s. The position is integral to ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting activities and to maintain a sound financial control environment. The Staff Accountant will report to the Senior Accountant and will collaborate with the HR Team and the Project Management Organization to ensure regular processes are kept up and information is communicated accurately. This position is fully remote with occasional travel for meetings. Candidate must reside in Western Massachusetts or Northern/ Central Connecticut.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately record financial activities including revenues, expenses and payables into QuickBooks Online
  • Organize and store financial documents such as invoices, receipts and bank statements ensure QuickBooks Online is up to date and support is readily accessible.
  • Conduct account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and correct errors made by internal and external personnel
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of operational management accounts
  • Prepare special reports, when requested by Partners, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information
  • Book payroll related tax entries provided by the HR Department
  • Review employee expense reports to ensure compliance with Company policy
  • Assist with UK Company Accounting as requested by the Senior Accountant
  • Assist with preparing monthly company call presentation and supporting financial graphs
  • Assist with updates to the company’s planning tool, Board EPM
  • Assist with preparation of tax information for the company’s CPA’s
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • Sound understanding of finance, accounting, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices and standards
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, a plus
  • Experience with BigTime, a plus
  • Experience with Board EPM, a plus
