Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Hours based upon agency need
Minimum Starting Salary: $24.71 per hour

What You Will Do – Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee is responsible for creation, development, and collection of agency communications content (internal and external) including e-communications, social media, news releases, newsletters, and other online-based communication outlets. Additionally, employee will advocate and communicate to Franklin County Children Services audiences in various electronic formats the agency’s mission, programs, and initiatives.

  • Research, write, edit, monitor, and maintain agency communications content, written stories, links, graphics, social media, photos and video; including implementing new ideas; creating new posts/stories and linking to related resources; coordinate and research story submissions from Communications Division staff; create and maintain schedule and guidelines for article submissions that meets deadlines and analyze report findings for future publications regarding key comparative metrics.
  • Assist on various Community Outreach projects/public relations duties; serves as resource person for information on positive public presentation of agency programs & activities; responds to requests for speeches or presentations; attends public events and campaigns, speaking engagements, community events and displays, and other community education or awareness initiatives as assigned.
  • Attend department, divisional, committee, and agency-sponsored meetings; meet with supervisor to discuss projects; perform other duties as assigned.

What will make you successful:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field; and sensitivity and appreciation for diverse religions and cultures. Strong writer and editor, and excellent communication, organizational and planning skills, able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must demonstrate an understanding of website development and social media platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related degree or 3 years related experience; must demonstrate an understanding of website development & layout, management and web technology; strong writer and editor, with emphasis on story/contextual editing, and excellent communication, organizational and planning skills, able of work independently as well as in a team environment; proficient working with industry standard products for image creation, Adobe Graphics Suite; knowledge of using Microsoft Office Suite; creating and changing JPG, GIF and PNG images.
