Marketing and Communications Manager

Position Title: Marketing and Communications Manager

Summary:  The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the development and supervision of all marketing and communications strategies for the district. This individual will oversee the  development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns. The Marketing and Communications Manager will promote the district and its services. Some marketing goals will include maintaining the brand integrity of Bangor Township Schools. The  Marketing and Communications Manager will also launch and manage all communications, marketing, and any associated tasks.

Essential Duties:

  • Initiate, develop, and implement new marketing programs, including direct mail, email, video marketing, social media marketing, advertisements, and press releases.
  • Develop, promote, and utilize branding initiatives consistent with the District Identity Guide.
  • Ensure all marketing and communication materials conform to the Identity Guide.
  • Work with the Superintendent, Central Office Staff, and Principals to communicate and market all programs, services, announcements, etc.
  • Develop marketing plans within budget requirements.
  • Organize PR initiatives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on other school district activities; make recommendations based on findings/opportunities discovered.
  • Develop, manage, and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for BTS to span across all communication media (online and offline), and reach appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goals.
  • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to an appropriate timeline.
  • Maintain appropriate credentials and training hours as required; 
  • Comply with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations;  
  • Take in-service training as provided; 
  • Must be self-directed and have the ability to follow directives from supervisors; 
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times;
  • Regular in-person attendance and punctuality are expectations of this position.

Report to/Evaluated by:  Superintendent or designee.

Supervisory Responsibility:  None

Rate of Pay/Hours/Benefits

Salary: Offering a competitive salary of at least $65,000, dependent upon experience and education level

Vacation Days:  10

10 paid Holidays

Sick Days:  12

Work Year/Day:  52 weeks; 236 work days

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or Marketing.
  • 2-3 years of work experience.

  • Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in internet marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
  • Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Breadth of working knowledge and past experience in publishing with print and web-media.
  • Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements preferred.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate the end-to-end development process while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Strong presentation skills.
