House of Gilles is a New York–based haute couture atelier founded by Gilles Mendel and Chloé Mendel Corgan. We celebrate meticulous craftsmanship, ethereal design, and deeply personal client experiences. Our couture and bridal collections blend traditional European technique with a modern metropolitan sensibility.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a passionate Fashion Illustration Intern to support our creative team for two months. You’ll help translate ideas and fabrics into refined sketches, work directly alongside our designers, and gain hands-on experience in a couture environment.
Key Responsibilities
Produce concept and technical illustrations for upcoming couture and bridal designs
Refine hand-sketches and develop polished digital flats using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or Procreate
Collaborate with designers to visualize fabric drape, embroidery placement, and silhouette details
Research trend, color, and fabric inspiration, compiling mood boards and reference imagery
Assist in preparing presentation boards for client fittings and showroom appointments
Archive and organize illustration files, swatches, and studio reference materials
Qualifications & Skills
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Fashion Design, Illustration, or related program
Strong hand-drawing skills and a keen eye for proportion, detail, and fabric behavior
Proficiency in digital illustration tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, or equivalent)
Basic understanding of garment construction and couture terminology
Excellent communication, organization, and ability to work collaboratively in a studio setting
Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn the inner workings of a couture atelier
