Instructional Designer/Technologist

This on-site position that will be serving the EICC district with a focus on faculty support, the Instructional Designer/Technologist partners with faculty to create engaging, accessible learning environments grounded in instructional best practices, assessment strategies, and quality course design in all modalities, with an emphasis in online. This position supports all EICC members, students, faculty, and staff—in their experience with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and the instructional tools suite. The role includes facilitating professional development, guiding course development and improvement within Canvas, and collaborating with internal teams to promote a culture of instructional quality and innovation. Emphasis and priority will be placed on supporting online instruction.

Location: This position is on-site daily at Scott Community College

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Teaching and Learning with Technology, or a closely-related field.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong written and oral communications with a focus on supportive writing style
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Can work independently or with a team to manage projects.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize multiple inbound requests.
  • Experience troubleshooting an LMS and advanced understanding of LMS functions. Experience with LMS functionality and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Teaching and Learning with Technology, or a closely-related field.
  • Experience with a variety of design methods and frameworks, such as OSCQR or Quality Matters.
  • Experience with creating and developing a professional development plan and delivery.
  • Canvas LMS experience.
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and general American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Physical Demands

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • This would require the ability to lift files, textbooks, and student work, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Requires the ability to sit or stand in a classroom during extended instructional periods.

Salary

Salary Range $45,000 - $56,000

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as first point of contact for faculty regarding instructional design, course development, assessment, and retention practices.
  • Serves as the institution’s primary point of contact for Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR) course development activities and drives overall adoption of the OSCQR framework.
  • Actively drives course accessibility.
  • Schedules and manages appointments to support faculty as requested.
  • Supports and leads training efforts across the district to support LMS usage, OSCQR adoption, and instructional tools. This includes monthly professional development and district-wide professional development.
  • Receives requests from canvashelp@eicc.edu general inbox and provides timely, same-day responses to inquiries pertaining to instructional design, course development and Canvas functionality.
  • Prioritize teamwork with all eLearning team members to support district-wide efforts and support for the district, including student support as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with Divisional Deans to support identified needs pertaining to eLearning experiences, such as instructional tools, information, training, and support.
  • Willingness to travel to various EICC district sites to train and support faculty as needed.
