JOB TITLE: High School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree Required
- Administrative Degree Preferred
- Michigan School Administrator Certification Required or Willing to Pursue
- Experience at the High School Level Preferred (teaching or administration)

- A visible presence in classrooms, hallways, and school events to build relationships and community connection.
- A steady, thoughtful approach to change management that includes staff in the process.
- Strong skills in mediation, conflict resolution, and proactive problem-solving.
- Support for extracurricular programs that promote student engagement and enhance school culture.
- Participate and lead various processes to meet the needs of individual learners such as 504 meetings, IEP meetings, MTSS meetings, and child study meetings.
- Creates the master schedule, teacher assignments, and student course placement in consultation with the office staff and counseling department
- Serves as building assessment coordinator – NWEA, MSTEP, PSAT, SAT and other assessment tools.
- Understand the complexities and nuances of hiring, evaluating, inspiring, and mentoring all staff members to exceed expectations.
- Understand the school’s responsibility to prepare students for their futures in this rapidly changing
- global society.
- Consistently takes on challenging situations and believes in the ability to effect change; takes risks to achieve vision and goals, even if they deviate from the norm.
- Set high-performance goals for themselves and others despite instability and obstacles to success.
- Collaborate with elementary and secondary principals to achieve program alignment and student expectations.
- Create a vision for school-wide operations, staff, scheduling, testing and finance to ensure they are aligned with school and district goals and priorities.
- Qualifications as the Swan Valley Board of Education and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
SALARY: Per Swan Valley Administrators Agreement
ENROLLMENT: Swan Valley High School
Grades 9 – 12, approx. 500 students
