INDIAN EDUCATION FOR ALL ACHIEVEMENT INSTRUCTIONAL COACH

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Aid and engage in Indian Education for All (IEFA) Curriculum Development for high school grades across content areas.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers on IEFA and other Indigenous Education Content.
- Effectively collaborate with high school teachers.
- Develop and support a team of IEFA teacher leaders across content areas who also contribute to IEFA professional development.
- Provide cultural enrichment opportunities at high schools in collaboration with the Indigenous Education team.
- Attend Billings Public Schools Indian Parent Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings, as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with families, educators, site leaders, community partners, and staff to engage Indigenous students and help define the scope of Indigenous Education in BPS.
- Serve as a co-facilitator, when appropriate, to the Indigenous Education Team to support professional development and strategies for improving student academic outcomes.
- Assist with tracking student intervention services to increase attendance and graduation rates of Indigenous American Students.
- Identify resources to meet students’ social, economic, and academic needs.
- Maintain confidential student records, contact logs, and program reports.
- Compile and report statistical student data as required.
- Regularly monitor at-risk student lists.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the department team, teachers, administrators, and families to increase attendance, academic achievement, college & career readiness that enhances graduation rates.
- Experience working with Indigenous and children and families.
- Collaborate effectively with the department team, teachers, administrators, and families to improve attendance, academic achievement, college and career readiness, and graduation rates.
- Demonstrate experience working with Indigenous children and families.
- Work with community partners and school-based clubs to support cultural enrichment programs that promote graduation success.
- Collaborate with the Indigenous Education Department team to support programs that enhance graduation rates.
- May teach a limited number of courses as assigned by the Director of Indigenous Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Montana Teaching Certificate
- Valid Montana driver’s license
- Bachelor's degree in Education
- Demonstrate knowledge of Indigenous people of Montana, Indian Education for All, and multicultural education
- Successful teaching experience in high school grades or similar is preferred.
- Experience working cross curricular in within content areas and grade levels
- Self-motivated professional with vision, initiative and commitment to IEFA
- Training and experience with Indian Education for All, Indigenous Education, Multicultural Education and similar.
- Experience working with Indigenous and children and families.
- Self-motivated professional with vision, initiative and commitment to IEFA and closing the American Indian Achievement Gap.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include sitting and working for long periods of time, standing, bending, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds.
