Operational Engineer (Bilingual in Mandarin)

Role Overview

We are hiring an Operational Engineer to drive internal business system improvements, process automation, and performance insights across teams. This is a cross-functional role that requires strong independent judgment, business systems thinking, and a proactive approach to optimizing internal tools and decision workflows.

This position is classified as exempt under the California Administrative Exemption category, given the discretion and judgment required in shaping internal systems and business operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Business Systems & Data Infrastructure
    • Maintain and improve proprietary CRM/ATS systems used by recruiting and BD teams.
    • Design and manage internal data dashboards and reporting tools to support business operations and strategic decision-making.
    • Ensure data quality and consistency across business systems and reports.
  2. Internal Automation Tools
    • Design and implement workflow automation using platforms like Lark, Zapier, and custom Python scripts.
    • Debug and refine internal operational CRM/ATS systems.
    • Integrate third-party APIs with internal operational CRM/ATS systems to reduce manual tasks.
  3. AI-powered Virtual Sourcer Operations
    • Manage the setup, allocation, and ongoing maintenance of AI Virtual Sourcer accounts across internal teams and client requisitions.
    • Monitor usage patterns, troubleshoot issues, and ensure operational uptime and effectiveness.
    • Coordinate with the product/engineering team to escalate bugs, suggest improvements, and track feature adoption.
    • Ensure proper onboarding and usage compliance for team members leveraging AI tools.
  4. Performance Analysis & Strategic Support
    • Collaborate with CEO to analyze business performance.
    • Interpret data and provide insights that inform business decisions and hiring targets.
    • Coordinate internal feedback loops to inform improvements in sourcing and delivery processes.
    • Recommend improvements to system processes and business practices based on analytics and team feedback.
  5. Independent Initiative & Judgment
    • Proactively identify operational gaps or inefficiencies and drive actionable solutions.
    • Evaluate vendor tools and make recommendations to leadership on system investments or automation solutions.
    • Serve as an internal advisor on optimizing and scaling AI-powered recruitment processes.
  6. Internal Customer Support & Account Management
    • Serve as the first point of contact for internal user questions, issues, and feedback.
    • Troubleshoot user problems and provide timely technical support across time zones.
    • Handle basic account management tasks, such as onboarding new users, answering account-related questions, and ensuring user success.
    • Gather and relay user feedback to inform product improvements.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in business operations, systems analysis, or internal automation engineering is preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently and apply judgment in business-critical system/process decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical details into business impact
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to both technical and non-technical areas and comfortable context-switching between coding and customer-facing tasks.
  • Can wear multiple hats with a strong can-do attitude in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Self-motivated with strong entrepreneurial mindset and a bias toward action
  • Proficient in Chinese both written and verbal

 

Technical Skills Required

  • Programming skills in modern web stacks (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, etc.).
  • Data Automation & Scraping: Selenium, BeautifulSoup, RESTful APIs, ETL pipelines, proxy configuration and rotation (HTTP/SOCKS)
  • Cloud Infrastructure: AWS (S3, Lambda, RDS)
  • AI Productivity Tools: GitHub Copilot, Cursor
  • Internal Systems & Platforms: Custom-built CRM/ATS (Python-based), Lark, AnyCross
  • Visualization & Reporting: Tableau, Canva (preferred),PPT
