Are you a creative and results-driven digital marketer looking to make an impact? Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to plan and execute our core digital marketing initiatives. This role is key in developing and managing email and social media campaigns, creating compelling content (video, social, email, web), and ensuring our brand is consistent across all platforms.
You'll collaborate closely with the Communications & Advocacy Administrator to update our website, craft event marketing plans for conferences, and develop integrated communication strategies. This position requires frequent interaction with IHLS staff, staff from our member libraries, and other stakeholders, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
This is an exempt position with a starting salary ranging from $50,439 to $63,049.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and build targeted email campaigns for IHLS members, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
- Maintain and expand IHLS's social media footprint, engaging with users and posting content our members can leverage. You'll also research and recommend new platforms to engage our audience.
- Monitor the effectiveness of our digital communications through reports and dashboards, analyzing data to recommend innovative strategies for enhancing our digital presence.
- Help maintain and update the IHLS website and other related websites.
- Serve as a brand custodian, assisting with the development and maintenance of brand guidelines for the entire IHLS portfolio (IHLS, CMC, SHARE, iLEAD, Mobile Memory Lab, etc.).
- Assist with coordinating marketing efforts for IHLS events, including conference booths.
- Help coordinate, create, and order various IHLS publications and marketing materials for print, such as brochures, rack cards, swag, and other branded items.
- Provide marketing, communications, and public relations consultations to IHLS members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree (B.A.) in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field is required. We will consider 3–5 years of equivalent experience in the marketing or public relations field in lieu of a degree.
- Proficiency in digital design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), analytics platforms (Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, SEO principles), and email marketing (Mailchimp), with a foundational understanding of HTML, coding, and tags, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with a website content management system such as Drupal or WordPress.
- At least one year of experience creating engaging content and building/maintaining a robust follower base on various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with diverse individuals.
- Ability to plan, organize, and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A self-starter who can identify and fill personal knowledge gaps independently.
- Working knowledge of design principles.
- Ability to maintain a productive work atmosphere and communicate clearly and friendly with colleagues and member libraries.
- Ability to be responsive yet realistic when collaborating.
- A valid driver’s license or other accommodations for travel.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience working with or in libraries.
- Two or more years of experience with all stages of video production (idea development, scripting, filming/production, and editing).
- Facility with photographing people and objects for web and print marketing collateral.
- Two or more years of demonstrated experience running digital communication or marketing campaigns, including producing a wide range of innovative and engaging marketing and communication pieces across various digital platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- The employee is required to have visual acuity to determine accuracy and perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and thoroughness of the work assigned
Working Conditions: An office environment and/or remote work setting.
Remote Work: Remote work within Illinois is available, contingent upon approval and adherence to company policy.
