ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Serve as a facilitator to the Indigenous Education Mentor & Cultural Specialist to provide professional development and strategies for improving student academic outcomes.
  • Assist in tracking student intervention services aimed at increasing attendance and graduation rates of Indigenous American students.
  • Assist with data collection necessary to monitor and evaluate Indigenous student progress towards graduation.
  • Identify resources to meet the needs of students (social, economic, academic).
  • Maintain confidential student records, contact logs, and program documentation.
  • Assist in compiling statistical student data for reporting and accountability purposes.
  • Regularly monitor and respond to student at-risk lists.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the department team, teachers, administrators, and families to improve attendance, academic performance, and college and career readiness, ultimately enhancing graduation rates.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and children and families.
  • Collaborate with community partners and school-based clubs to support cultural enrichment programs that contribute to graduation success.
  • Work as part of the Indigenous Education Department team to implement programs that support student success.
  • May teach a limited number of courses as assigned by the Director of Indigenous Education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Montana Teaching Certificate.
  • Valid Montana driver’s license.
  • Training and experience with Indian Education for All, Indigenous Education, Multicultural Education and similar. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Indigenous people of Montana, Indian Education for All, and multicultural education.
  • Successful teaching experience, preferably in 6-12 grade levels.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and children and families.
  • Self-motivated professional with vision, initiative and commitment to IEFA and closing the American Indian Achievement Gap.
