Photographer/Videographer-Communications & Marketing

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor, the Photographer and Videographer plans, shoots, edits, and creates content and creative photos and videos for marketing and advertising, public relations, website, email, social media communications, and presentations. This position will also implement and regulate UTHSC’s brand standards in the videos produced.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages photography and videography needs for the University and its units, including coordination of freelancers and the Communications and Marketing staff taking photos/video
- Plans, shoots, edits, and creates photos and videos for marketing, advertising, PR, website, email, social media, communications, presentations, etc.
- Manages and makes decisions about faculty, staff, and student studio headshots and environmental portraits – scheduling, lighting, photographing, editing, organizing, and distributing
- Ensures consistency and creative, stylistic, and branding standards are met
- Participates in brainstorming, planning, and strategy sessions with Communications and Marketing staff and clients
- Create visual content that supports UTHSC campaigns and initiatives, and edits photos/videos as needed.
- Provides creative content for websites and social media channels.
- Manages projects and prioritizes work to meet deadlines.
- Plans and executes photo shoots for press releases and publications.
- Catalogs and maintains provided photos/videos.
- Trains and provides expertise to UTHSC students, faculty, and staff as needed to capture photos/videos that are engaging, appropriate, and high quality for maintaining the UTHSC brand.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Videography, Photography, Journalism, or other relevant field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years relevant photography and videography experience in professional communications, graphic design, advertising/marketing, or similar environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability and knowledge to operate Apple computers.
- Ability to take high quality, professional photos using DSLRs and professional photo equipment.
- Photo and video editing and production skills using Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects
- Knowledge of lighting for photo, video, and audio production using DSLRs (preferably Canon systems) and audio recorders.
- Visual composition skills with the ability to conceptualize and produce story telling video productions.
- Knowledge to effectively use organizational and planning skills with attention to details and follow through
- Knowledge to distribute video via YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Twitter, OneDrive, etc.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
- Ability to coordinate and maintain scheduling software for head shot appointments.
- Ability to edit photos/video and provide those edited files to the client in a timely manner.
