Data Analyst
JOB DESCRIPTION:
BioCentury is seeking a Data Analyst to work on BioCentury’s BCIQ database as part of the Data & Analytics team.
BioCentury provides independent deep-dive analysis, high-quality data and high-impact networking events for biopharmaceutical executives and investors in the U.S., Europe and Asia. We employ a fully integrated multimedia platform — including electronic publications, online data solutions, interactive websites, webcasts, and in-person as well as digital conferences. No matter where our customers are in the drug development process — from idea to patient — we help answer critical questions, decipher strategic trends, objectively evaluate product and business strategies, and assess competitive, financial, and policy risks.
Role Summary:
As a Data Analyst, you’ll join a high-impact team responsible for identifying, validating, and enriching biopharma data across a wide range of domains—clinical trials, product pipelines, molecular targets, deals, company records, and more.
You’ll help ensure BioCentury’s BCIQ platform remains a trusted source of structured, decision-ready intelligence. Your work will be guided by a detailed competency framework and supported by structured onboarding, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong focus on data quality, workflow precision, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret press releases, company websites, public filings, and regulatory sources to extract relevant biopharma data
- Review and convert key biopharma developments — such as financings, partnerships, and pipeline updates — into accurate, organized entries in our database.
- Maintain, update, and validate data entries to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across our database
- Apply decision protocols to resolve data ambiguities, and escalate complex cases when necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data workflows and address quality or usability issues
- Build expertise in areas such as data governance, SQL querying, Power BI, or prompt engineering
What Success Looks Like:
Your progress will be evaluated using a transparent, competency-based framework. As you grow, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Take ownership of specific data domains and workflows
- Lead or contribute to data quality projects and protocol refinement
- Train others or serve as a subject-matter expert in specific data domains
- Develop skills across a range of data and biotech topics, with a clear growth path that supports your advancement from foundational to expert-level capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in life sciences, data science, business, or a related field
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to following structured workflows and ensuring data accuracy
- Proven ability to take initiative, manage your time effectively, and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a distributed team environment
- Experience working with structured data systems (e.g., Excel, SQL, Airtable)
- Familiarity with biotech, clinical development, or regulatory affairs
Preferred (but not required) Experience:
- Familiarity with drug development, licensing, and private equity transactions
- Reading fluency in Chinese, including the ability to understand technical biopharma content
- SQL or Python for data extraction or cleaning
- Power BI or similar tools for building dashboards or reports
- Experience with entity extraction or natural language processing tools
Ethical Standards
All BioCentury employees are expected to meet the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. Data Analysts are entrusted with proprietary data and are expected to uphold strict information quality and integrity guidelines at all times.
