Shaping Space Teaching Artist

Position Title: Shaping Space Teaching Artist 

Position Type: Part Time Contractor 

Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week but may vary. Instruction takes place Monday – Friday at 1 school each day, not to exceed 2 hours on site per class. Lesson planning is compensated for up to 3 hours per lesson. 

Reports to: Community Engagement & Programs Manager 

Compensation: $25 per hour. Shaping Space Teaching Artists are compensated for time spent instructing at schools, meeting with the Programs Manager, lesson planning, and evaluations. 

Location of work: Lesson planning can take place remotely. Instruction is in-person at Perez, Winn, Allison, Ortega, and Linder Elementary Schools. 

Start Date: August 2025 

End Date: This is a semester-long commitment with the opportunity to extend. 

Description: As a Teaching Artist, you are the lead teacher and primary point of contact for the Shaping Space Afterschool Program students at Perez, Winn, Allison, Ortega, and Linder Elementary Schools. 

Responsibilities: 
• Modifying, implementing, and facilitating lesson plans for groups of up to 10–15 elementary students at 5 elementary schools. 
• Assist with the Student Art Show at the end of the semester.
