All About Us
Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies is comprised of Michigan Farm Bureau; MFB, Inc.; the Michigan Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Association, Inc.; Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan; Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company of Michigan; and Community Service Acceptance Company.
The purpose of the Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) is to represent, protect, and enhance the business, economic, social and educational interests of our members. Formed in 1919, MFB is the state's largest general farm organization. That means we represent Michigan's agricultural diversity, from crops and livestock, to fruits and vegetables, greenhouses, forestry and more. We also represent farms of all sizes — small, medium and large — and varying styles of production, including conventional and organic and both indoor and outdoor animal management.
MFB is the parent organization of the Farm Bureau Family of Companies and is the state's largest general farm organization, with over 40,000 farmer-member families and more than 217,000 total members in 65 county Farm Bureaus.
Farm Bureau Insurance’s Mission Statement is “Protecting the people of Michigan from the risks of everyday life.” The company is dedicated to serving Michigan; and only Michigan. Our company was founded in 1949 by Michigan farmers of Michigan Farm Bureau-who wanted an insurance company that worked as hard as they did, gave honest service, and cared about Michigan's future. Those values still guide us today and are a big reason why we are known as Michigan's Insurance Company, dedicated to protecting the farms, families, and businesses of this great state.
