The State Treasurer (Treasurer) acts as principal advisor to the Governor on tax and fiscal policy issues. Under the Treasurer’s direction, the Department of Treasury (Treasury) collects, invests, and disburses all State monies. Treasury administers major State tax laws, including property tax laws, safeguards the credit of the State and its local government, audits county and municipal finance records, holds unclaimed or abandoned property, and administers college savings, student loan, and grant programs.
